Monday: Work on a presentation on one of our Enlightenment works and authors. You’ll need a poster, powerpoint, handout, transparency – some “visual aid” for a 5-minute presentation to be given to class on Friday.

Tuesday: Begin planning your Phaedra test essay. It's due at the beginning of class on Monday 1/29, and you'll have Thursday (1/25) in class to work on it (you can also write at home). Choose one of the following:

1. Research classical tragedy and discuss how Phaedra fits or does not fit it.

2. Oenone: Well-intentioned or evil?

3. What should Phaedra have done when she heard Theseus was dead?

4. Did Hippolytus act irrationally at the end of the play?

5. Who in the play is the most rational and why?
