European and World Literature

Monday: Read the rest of Act 1 of As You Like It (2 more scenes)

Tuesday: Write up the part of the performance you watched today in a paragraph (5 or more sentences)

Wednesday: Write up the part of the performance you watched today in a paragraph (5 or more sentences)

Thursday: Write up the part of the performance you watched today in a paragraph (5 or more sentences)

Friday (over the break): Read Acts 2 and 3 for a quiz when we return

American Literature

Monday: Read Emerson’s biography and “Building Background” (pp 238-239)

Tuesday: Read Thoreau’s biography and “Building Background” (pp250-251)

Wednesday: Fill out transcendentalism handout

Thursday: Read “Civil Disobedience” (pp 257-261)

Friday (over the break): locate two examples of comics, sitcoms, television dramas, commercials, movies, etc that provide examples of transcendental thought. Fill out a copy of the transcendentalism handout and write a one-paragraph explanation of the transcendental elements for each.

9th Grade Literature and Composition

Monday: Draw a picture of one of our major characters. Put some color in it!

Tuesday: Read the next five pages.

Wednesday: Put either Gilgamesh or Enkidu onto the hero cycle handout

Thursday: Read five more pages from where we stopped in class (to be determined in class)

Friday (over the break): Finish reading Gilgamesh

Writing and Organizational Skills

Monday/Tuesday: Find the rest of your sources

Thursday: Finish a first draft for peer editing tomorrow. Must have introduction, conclusion, at least two body paragraphs, and a Works Cited page.

Friday (over the break): Do not lose your essay. Read over it sometime between Thursday and Sunday so you’ll remember what you were doing when we get back.
